New Windows Azure Issue
Interesting that a recent issue with Windows Azure involving FTP data access didn’t sound the alarms. Microsoft acted swiftly in resolving the issue without any noticeable detritus of customer complaints. In addition, Microsoft mobilized and took care of the problem very quickly. That it happened on October 30th, traditionally known as Mischief Night, preceding Halloween, was a coincidence, since there was nothing malicious about the issue itself. The Azure Websites problem was resolved in a little over 24 hours and didn’t seem to disrupt any clients’ uptime or website functionality. With Windows Azure, there is duplicity in how deployments can launch into production from staging and Azure recommended two workarounds to avert the glitch while it was fixed by their tech staff.
However, will this issue attach itself to previous Windows Azure issues in a cumulative sense? Azure faces tough competition in the overall Cloud Services market. The Microsoft name doesn’t project the premier branding any longer in many segments of the tech, soft and cloud markets. One positive aspect of the tech giant is that Microsoft is generally transparent with issues regarding Windows Azure and communicates live on social media and on their proprietary status dashboard to keep their customers updated.
